3/23 update – Despite some flooding and winds this evening, we are still holding our concert tonight at 7:30, with award-winning fiddler Janie Rothfield and Scottish singer and guitarist Allan Carr.
Callowhill Road and possibly some others in the area are closed at some spots, so folks will need to drive with care and find some alternatives if necessary. Please use your own judgment as to whether you are comfortable coming out. We want everyone to be safe!
Perkasie Patchwork Coffeehouse is thrilled to welcome Janie Rothfield and Allan Carr to the March coffeehouse on Saturday, March 23, 2024, 7:30 pm. Doors open at 7 pm.
Award winning fiddler Janie Rothfield and husband Scottish singer and guitarist Allan Carr have been playing and recording their unique blend of Celtic and Appalachian music for over 40 years! Janie and Allan play roots music that is directly from the source while expanding on that tradition with newly composed songs and tunes. Great singing, hot instrumentals and with Allan’s humor, always a whole lot of fun! They have over a dozen recordings to their credit and have a new DUO recording coming out in Summer of 2024, featuring their signature unique sound that blends the old with the new and back again!
Since meeting in 1978 when Janie was at college in Aberdeen, Scotland (they met at a folk music concert Allan was singing at), Janie and Allan have played and taught at festivals, concerts, workshops and music camps throughout the USA and Europe!
Allan Carr (from Aberdeen, Scotland) grew up surrounded by the rich traditional music of the Northeast of Scotland and is one of the finest singers from that tradition. His Celtic/old time guitar style perfectly complements his traditional songs and all styles of fiddle tunes!
Janie Rothfield is a highly acclaimed and powerhouse fiddler, clawhammer banjo player, singer and tune composer with deep roots in the fiddle traditions of New England, Scotland, and the American South.
Janie and Allan blend their love of traditional music as well as their own compositions to present a concert that weaves a musical story from both sides of the Atlantic and is always fun!
